50 Shades. Endless Stories. One Color.
Artists of all disciplines are invited to submit works for "50 Shades of Red," a bold and immersive art exhibit exploring the emotional, cultural, and aesthetic spectrum of the color red. From fiery passion to quiet resilience, this exhibit dives into the infinite nuances of a color that has captivated humanity for centuries.
Theme Overview
The exhibit will feature up to 50 unique interpretations of red across various shades and concepts, such as:
Emotional Shades: Love, anger, joy, courage, or lust.
Cultural Shades: Red’s significance in traditions, rituals, and symbolism worldwide.
Natural Shades: Sunset skies, crimson leaves, and the depth of rubies.
Abstract Shades: Artistic and experimental explorations of red.
Serendipity Studio extends this invitation to visual artists desiring to participate in the “50 Shades of Red” call for art. We host a variety of art calls throughout the year, and encourage you to consider all of them. Best of Show & People’s choice award winners have a chance to win cash prizes.
Eligible Mediums:
2D Art: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital art, and mixed media
3D Art: Sculpture, ceramics, glasswork, textile art, and found-object creations
To participate, please do the following:
Submissions are open to artists of all levels, backgrounds, and ages.
Each artist may submit up to 7 pieces for consideration
Submitted artwork must align with the theme of 50 Shades of Red
Artwork should be original and not infringe upon any copyrights. Please be aware that we will not accept any artwork that is deemed pornographic, hateful, or violent.
Please provide a brief artist statement with each submission, explaining how your work relates to the theme.
Digital submissions should be high-resolution images (300 dpi) in JPEG or PNG format. Please resize to 1920 pixels along the longest side. Please be aware that these images are utilized by Serendipity Studio to build the online exhibit as well as promote the exhibit in marketing, so please submit your best images.

Clearly identify each image with title, medium, size, and retail price
Do NOT just simply include a link to your website/Instagram/Facebook, etc.
Please complete the form below.
If you are selected, you will be emailed a contract further explaining the terms of the agreement. The costs associated with the call are a $30 fee per piece that is selected, unless you are an Associate Artist of the gallery, in which case your fee will reflect your agreement level. The gallery retains a 25% commission from all sales during the exhibit, unless the artists have an existing Associate Artist agreement.
$5 of each submission fee will be donated to the American Heart Association - Sioux Falls, as well as a percentage of each artwork sold. We appreciate all that they do help South Dakotan’s live a healthier life, and a pleased to help support their mission.
