Laurel Lather

Hello, my name is Laurel Lather, affectionately called the Nostalgic chef…my passion for food and gardening all began as a little girl where my fondest memories were the days spent with my grandpa in his greenhouse and gramma in her cozy kitchen

Little did I know that those moments would lead me on a lifetime pursuit to please people’s palate…my culinary journey as a chef/restaurateur ended upon retirement, but turning in the key to my business life opened a whole new door…my focus switched from plate to pen, finally completing Nostalgic Feast, the cookbook I had longed to write

This newly found free time also allowed me to redevelop my herb blends, which became the inspiration for my first paintings where I combined my love for cooking and gardening by taking all the ingredients and integrating them into a fantasy garden scene

My whimsical gardens took on a whole new life as I began to do the same thing with my recipes… with each commissioned piece I do, my heart soars as I take a family’s heirloom recipe or culinary memory and turn it into their very own special garden

Receiving “Honorable Mention” and “People’s Choice” awards at the gallery’s monthly Call for Art has been an honor that inspires me to hone this newfound talent…after years of crafting delicious food on a plate, I am excited to now bring a recipe to life on canvas!
