Painted Pasque

The prairie pasque is South Dakota’s state flower. It is elusive to locate as it only blooms in native soil that has been undisturbed by the hand of man.

The size of the flower is very small and it blooms in the early spring. This image had a very soft focus with the flower being back-lit by the sun.
