Last Call

The photo depicts an old, abandoned saloon in Rockerville, South Dakota. The building, weathered and worn, shows signs of neglect with peeling paint, broken windows, and a crumbling facade. The Saloon sign hanging above the entrance lets everyone know what was once housed here, anchoring a once bustling boardwalk.

The painting evokes a sense of melancholy and nostalgia, capturing the fading glory of a once-vibrant town. The image suggests a story of decline and the inevitable march of time. This place is a special place to me throughout my childhood. I had my first Sarsaparilla in this saloon, and ran up the boardwalk looking in the shops and longing for every toy that I saw.

I have embellished this photograph with acrylic paint, highlighting and exaggerating some of the colors from a past era.
