Cultural Red
To celebrate 50 Shades of Red - I have chosen the cultural side of red.
Norwegian Rosemaling, particularly in the Hallingdal region that used pigments from the area to create the colors.
Red Iron Oxide was used primarily as a background color, although other colors can also be used. The Hallingdal style is my favorite because it represents the area where my ancestors came from, it's also symmetrical & has a lot of details that can be used, and doesn't have the characteristic shading of the Telemark style.
